Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Hourly Hanzi handles information when you use the app. It is incorporated into our Terms of Use by reference.

Information We Store

The app stores learning progress and settings on your device, including vocabulary history, seen and learned words, flashcards, quiz progress, selected HSK level, widget timing, speech settings, and premium access state.

If you enable iCloud sync, the same app state is saved to your private Apple iCloud database using CloudKit so it can sync across your Apple devices.

If you use Sign in with Apple, the app stores your Apple user identifier and, when Apple provides it, your display name. The app requests name and email from Apple during sign-in, but it does not store your email address in the current app state.

If you purchase a subscription or lifetime plan, Apple processes the purchase through StoreKit. The app stores the purchased product identifier, unlock date, and subscription expiration date when applicable.

If you enable Live Activity alerts or related widget updates, Hourly Hanzi may process an app-generated install identifier, Apple push tokens, widget delivery settings, and scheduled vocabulary content so those updates can be delivered.

If you report a problem with learning content, Hourly Hanzi may receive the reported item, prompt, screen, timestamp, and any details included with the report so the content can be reviewed and improved.

Information We Do Not Collect

Hourly Hanzi does not sell personal information and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Audio And Dictionary Features

Mandarin pronunciation and sentence audio are generated on device using Apple's system speech voices or the bundled offline voice model.

The app may open external dictionary websites when you choose a dictionary link. Those sites are operated by third parties and have their own privacy practices.

Apple Services

Sign in with Apple, iCloud, App Store purchases, refunds, trials, renewals, and subscription management are handled by Apple. Apple's privacy policy applies to Apple's processing of that information.
